Am waiting on my date but have been told it will be ‘sometime in April’. It feels like a lifetime away and I don’t know how I will cope until then. Wish I could fast forward the next few months!January 22, 2015 at 4:05 pm #273362
It will come round quicker than you think, just be positive 🙂February 3, 2015 at 9:34 pm #273363

Also taking hormone injections pre open along with following specialist orders to try and loose some weight but hey glad I found this place with people same as me. Hello megs and welcome,
You are our first April lady with a confirmed date !!
You will find plenty of support and advice here – feel free to pop into any of the monthly forums and chat with the ladies who have had their operations – they will welcome you warmly and you can read about their progress which will give you an idea of what to expect. !! You can also ask any questions you may have – there’s usually always someone who can answer it for you and there are no silly questions on here either !! 😆
Here is the recovery guide which many ladies have found useful ! Xx

I’ve just had ‘The booking’ call. I’m in on the 28th April at Peterborough City Hospital. Need to stop stressing, and think forward to the new, old me back!February 9, 2015 at 1:45 pm #273366
Cara84 see that you are also in Lincolnshire, will you be in the Peterborough City?February 9, 2015 at 3:41 pm #273367

Hi Megs and Tracey, I am still waiting on my date but I will be at Boston Pilgrim. I only got the choice of Boston or Lincoln. It’s good that you have plenty of notice. I called to chase them up and they said the end of April however they will probably only give me 3 weeks notice. It’s driving me insane not knowing! I suppose it will be here before we know it though!

Hello back, Cara
Hope you get a date soon, I actually feel calmer now I know my date.
Have already bought some books from a local charity shop, a v shaped pillow, a support band (which feels like a tummy hug when on), new year sale bargains in mini shampoo etc (were meant for holidays but will be light to lift), some slip on slippers that’ll be easy on and off.
Not a nightie wearer, but will have to look around for a couple to see me over my time in hospital. Once I’ve had my pre op appointment on 7th April, I’ll pack bags ready as per helpful hints, so I’m not carrying in half my bedroom on op day and will let hubby bring others in depending on how long I’m in!
Just got a mental note of house jobs I want to do, that I will then turn a blind eye to for the next few months. I know it may seem trivial at this time, but worried how my dog is going to cope! She’s my child replacement and we have such a routine of walks and being together I could swap putting my hubby in kennels for a bit of time more easily haha!!February 11, 2015 at 8:18 am #273370
Blimey you are very organised! I need to take a leaf out of your book. I’ve not bought a thing yet. Am finding it difficult to imagine being out of action as I am usually on the go constantly – I work full time, have a 3 year old son and study 2 nights week.
I also think I will feel calmer when I have a date – will also push me to get organised I hope!
I’m sure your dog will cope fine – they are very adaptable aren’t they – will probably enjoy snuggling on the sofa with you! At least with all your dog walking you will be fit for the op. Send hubby to kennels anyway and just let him home when you need feeding and watering haha.

I too am a little bit organised, having purchased a book and a V shape pillow, but what are these tummy bands, worth getting?February 11, 2015 at 4:26 pm #273372
You can buy the tummy bands from this site – they are supposed to help support your tummy while you are recovering to assist while you walk etc – some ladies like them but others are not so keen – I am sure someone will be along soon with their personal experience of them – I didn’t have one but I had mine done vaginally and didn’t have an incision which made it easier and I didn’t feel I needed one 8) it’s good to get organised I had my bag packed for about 2 months and kept on taking stuff out then putting different stuff in Lols !! OCD me thinks xx

I had abdominal surgery, and did buy a tummy band. I have to admit that I didn’t find it comfortable – it kept rolling up. This may be because I am tall??? It did keep the top of my tummy warm, but that wasn’t where I needed support.
Slogging type pants work well ( and I went about holding on to my tummy)
I wasn’t organised – got notice of my date as I drove to the airport on holiday – had 4 days after getting back to get organised.

I’m the one (probably like most of us on here) who’s used to being called on to do, so I feel a bit out of control with the thought of the next few months stopping me in my tracks! Am going to try and let hubby and daughters help me, but my feet are twitching at the thought haha. So my adding bits into a case is keeping me focused at the moment, but I have 10 weeks to go,just had flash thought of taking my stuff in my brightly coloured ‘granny’ trolley! Might even be able to sneak my dog in!February 12, 2015 at 12:58 pm #273375
i was so pleased when i got my date, i only got the date, because i rang up and was generally querying when it was likely to be, but noting that delays were likely because of all the issues with the NHS at present, when i happened to mention my hormone injections (max of 6) last one March.. suddenly i was given a date, apparently admissions hadnt realised. So i am glad i rang, and glad i mentioned it.
I am going to have the full works.. abdominally surgery. So i am pretty nervous, but hangining in there at the momement. I know i will be near melt down as i get nearer D day. I am dreading the surgery, dreading the recovery and dreading the surgical menapause. I have been popping in and out of other forums to get an idea on how other ladies are doing, so that helps.
I know that being able to pop on here and chat to others that are going through similar things is also going to help.
I also have a dog and have booked her into her favourite Doggy Day care, for the first week i am home, as i know she will be so excited to see me after my hospital stay, i would probably end up back in there 😆February 12, 2015 at 2:23 pm #273376
My thought for today was to make an appointment to have my hair cut the Saturday before my op, thinking that’ll keep me sorted until my holiday 10 weeks later in July
As for the rest of the hair on my body, choice of au natural and letting hubby loose with my Venus! May have to find the old Ladyshaver out and get it charged to be on the safe side!February 14, 2015 at 9:17 pm #273377
I’ve just found this site and forum. I’m having total ab hysterectomy and bi salphingoophrectomy on 8th April. After having spent the last 10 years wanting one, I’m now getting more nervous as reality hits.February 14, 2015 at 9:28 pm #273378
Welcome to the April Angels.
I have added you to the list.
Cara – TBC
Megs – 2nd April
Abster1970 – 8th April
Traceymartin – 28th April
You will find plenty of support and advice here. The April list is still small – but I’m certain more people will be along soon to join in.
Browse round the site – looking in to the current / recent monthly groups will give you an idea of how preparation and recovery is progressing..
Any questions, just ask. There is no such thing as a silly question on here!

I’m having a good look round. There’s lots of stuff I hadn’t thought of and useful stuff. Think I’m going to have to do a lot more prep than I had thought. It’s all starting to feel real now. Eeeekkkkk.
