    Hi Tania and MissE

I’m one of the July ladies, I had an abdominal subtotal hysterectomy on the 10th, due to a 14cm fibroid. Apart from heavy periods I had no other symptoms until Jan this year, when the pain started and the fibroid was diagnosed.

I’m just 7 weeks post op and doing really well, but not ready to return to work yet. Reading…[Read more]

😨 crikey Louby, hope you are recovering now.

What a shock for you and as you say 4 weeks down the line, I would be mortified as well. Are you back at home now, did the swabs come back ok? Did you know you had two infections in your incision or was it all a complete shock?

Hope you are feeling a lot better now. I have found the recovery…[Read more]

    Hi Heather

Glad to hear you are recovering ok. My stomach has been swollen since the op (abdominal) more so on my right hand side, it does get bigger towards the end of the day and I wear the light support knickers if I go out for a while (longer than my normal walks). From what I’ve read on previous posts this is normal and can take some time to…[Read more]

Hi everyone, how are you all doing, hope you’re recovering well.

I went to see the nurse again today, just to take a water test up there and for her to check my incision. I have kidney issues and have a history of UTI, so as always I’m drinking lots of water and keeping an eye out for any symptoms. I’m finding each day brings different aches and…[Read more]

    Hi Doreen

I’ve just popped in from the July group to wish you good luck for tomorrow, I had a subtotal hysterectomy and fallopian tubes removed on 10th July due to a large fibroid, I’m just over three weeks post op and doing well.

The waiting is definitely the worst part, let us know how you are doing once you are comfortable on that done…[Read more]

    Hi everyone

Emma so sorry to hear you have had a tummy bug, I wish you a speedy recovery. I kept two of my daughter’s at arms length as they had a bit of a cold and swollen glands, I didn’t want that as well. I have found recovery challenging enough mentally and physically never mind dealing with anything else. Recovery is going well, yes…[Read more]

That’s a good point Emma, some hospitals do a patient transport scheme. Bev its definitely worth asking your GP about this – I’m sure your GP will suggest this if he/she thinks it’s too early for you to drive. All I know regarding getting back behind the wheel is – its got to be in agreement with your insurance company and GP – you have got to be…[Read more]

    Hi Louby

Know what you mean about worrying about the blood on the dressing. I think I pulled too much last week – just like you getting up and down. I ended up at the out of hours doctor at the hospital Saturday night because of BM, and asked him if he could change my dressing and check all was ok – as I was there. He said no he couldn’t,…[Read more]

Hi Everyone – Bev, hope all goes well with your appointment today.

    Emma
The nurse in the hospital said I should wear them for Six weeks, she put a clean pair on me and gave me another pair when I got discharged. They are a nightmare to get on aren’t they, the bag method is brilliant. My husband makes a note of pain relief times, because we keep…[Read more]

    Hi Heather

Hope everyone is doing well and comfortable, was thinking of Michelle yesterday.

I stayed in bed yesterday/today, I’m finding it a lot easier getting up/down and overall more comfortable. Drinking loads and doing leg exercises. Husband is outside building his garage so we have walkie talkies on the go. Pain is a lot better than I…[Read more]

Hi Louby, yes I’m sleeping in bed, I’m more uncomfortable sitting for too long, very swollen and bloated. I pulled my belly today trying to get up. Its hard to know what to do for the best, pain is ok though. I’ve struggled more with being light-headed today, think my blood pressure has dropped again. I hope you’re ok and comfortable and also Bev…[Read more]

    Hi all

Good luck Emma for tomorrow, waiting is definitely worse, Louise glad to hear you are comfortable now, how’s the trapped wind?

I found my PMA on Saturday, after talking to my mum, I went in on Monday really calm, my husband and kids (youngest 23) all said how calm I was, I think this really helped. They all said I was a chatter box when I…[Read more]

    Hi everyone

Louise hope the pain is sorted out soon and you can start to feel better.

I went down just gone 11 and came back from recovery about 3. the anaesthetist gave me a epidural when they put me under, never had one before, he said it will give pain relief for longer. Operation went really well, consultant said Floyd was still large but the…[Read more]

    Hi everyone thank you

Left home at 5.30 this morning, had to be at the hospital by 7am. I have seen the consultant, anaesthetist and the pharmacist – I’ve got my sexy spongebob Square pants disposable knickers and surgical socks on, looking good.

    Hi all

Michelle that is how I was feeling – I finished the Esmya in May, I have not had a period since or the pain. I feel uncomfortable as Floyd was/is the size of 26 gestation. Apart from having loads of hot flushes for the last month I don’t feel too bad, so I keep thinking – should I be doing this. Every now and then I get a sharp pain for a…[Read more]
