Good luck to everyone this month. Just popped in to say life afterwards can be brilliant – I had my op in April 2018 and have never looked back. Things I found useful: HRT – excellent for me, audio-books for when lying down, stool or box to put in front of loo to help with BMs (sorry if too much info but it really helps!). The girls from the…[Read more]
Valybobs replied to the topic Running with fibroids, hystorectomy (TAH) confirmed July 2019 in the forum Fibroids 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Sorry to hear you’re struggling. I had my op in April 18 – mine was a vaginal op by keyhole (LATH). Unlike you I didn’t have fibroids but adenomyosis. Like you I am a keen runner (just back up to about 19 miles/ wk) but horrendous symptoms had made me radically reduce what I was able to do in the weeks prior to the op. I also had…[Read more]
Hallo all you January folk
I had my LAVH due to adenomyosis last April and thought I would just pop over to you to wish you all well.
Yes it is scary beforehand but bloody hell it’s worth it afterwards!!
I am 48 (47 at time of op) and had to start HRT but for me it has been fantastic, good mood, no hot flushes, back interested in my partner again…[Read more]
Hallo, I am sorry to hear about your experiences. I found this website last year while i was awaiting my hysterectomy which I had in April, due to adenomyosis.
I am sure everyone has a different experience but mine came on over years. I had always had heavy painful periods except when taking the pill and when i stopped taking the pill I opted…[Read more]
I had a LAVH in April and like you have had highs and lows. The lows were – being wiped out for 2 days after doing something ‘normal’ like a longer walk and then staying up later, or going back to work!!! I went back to work at 9 weeks post-op and had a phased return over 6 weeks and after the first couple of part days had to…[Read more]
Like you I am post-LAVH – just worked out that I’m 16 weeks tomorrow. I also am a little bit down that my recovery to running etc is going extremely slowly. But found a comment from a medic on another site to the effect that full healing of surgery site can take up to 12 months! So while I’m disappointed and exhausted today, I’m…[Read more]
My partner was very good last night, he noticed I wasn’t as ‘up’ as usual and when I said I was a bit fed up about weight gain etc he reminded me of what I’ve been through and that my body has to find its new normal. He is of course absolutely right, I have to remind myself it is only just 12.5 weeks since the operation!!
In terms…[Read more]
That is truly horrendous and totally dispassionate. What a pompous git to behave like that. I am glad you’ve submitted a formal complaint. I’ve had no experiences like you mention and in fact I’m replying as I wanted to let you know that most folk I’ve chatted to on the forums have had excellent experiences and met very compassionate…[Read more]
Hi everyone – just popped in to say hello. 🙂
I had a LAVH on 18th April so am just over 12 weeks recovered. I can remember so clearly what you guys are talking about – wanted to let you all know that once post-op week 5/6 passed, life became so much more like normal 🙂
It sounds like you are all doing really well, isn’t it such a relief to be…[Read more]
Hi @vixbrooks, I am 12 weeks post-op and have the same concern as you – eating healthily and exercising increasing. Did my first recovery run yesterday. HRT is making me emotionally in a better place but half my wardrobe now doesn’t fit me! I am hoping that as time goes on and I can exercise more that will help.
I am also trying not to be too…[Read more]
3rd time lucky with this post…
I hope to goodness this works. Found this after picking up an old leaflet in hospital. The 2018 leaflet has lots of exercises etc.
Just about to read back through all your posts but thought I should attach this link here while I remember! The 2018 booklet is excellent and seems to have a lot more in it than the old one which I had picked up in hospital.
HI GinaB, I don’t know where your post is but it was flagged to me as you mentioned me. If you’d like to join the Amazing April FB group then you’ll need to send me a friend request and i can then add you on. I’m Valerie McCluskie on FB. I know we’ve got a FB group and also WhatsApp… Anyone from April 18 still want to chat on here?
I’d love to hear from others who are still going through their recovery. I’m at 4 and a half weeks now. Just started a wee bit of driving – sore abdomen afterwards, and walkies now up to 2 miles.
Yes I definitely got menopausal symptoms 3 weeks in – I had to have injections to stop my own hormones (to stop my hideous symptoms) a few months before the operation (in April 18) My mood hit rock bottom, I had hot flushes and I saw my GP to start HRT. Immediately after my operation I spoke to my GP and was changed onto oestrogen…[Read more]
A walk of 1.5 miles today in the sunshine so things looking up after I over-did it last week 🙂
Then sitting reading in the garden. Hooray for sun and healing.
Finally stopping with the spotting/ bleeding. Also any pain/ discomfort feels different so things must be sorting themselves out inside thankfully.
@GinaB I hope you have chocolate as…[Read more]
Don’t be too downhearted, you’ve done the hardest part!
It’s awful to feel guilty but you shouldn’t feel guilty about looking after yourself 🙂 That’s so important.
I too seem to be allergic to almost everything adhesive in the hospital and it took a fortnight for the skin flare-ups to die down, in some ways they are sorer than the…[Read more]
Hallo folks, how are you all getting on?
I can’t believe I’m on day 20, op was 3 weeks ago tomorrow… My scars are like scars instead of wounds now 🙂
I’m continuing my walking and feeling a bit more energetic every day. Still have light bleeding, it started about 10 days ago, seems to be tailing off. Thankfully have been able to do without…[Read more]
Hallo May ladies 🙂
I am on day 18 after LAVH on 18th April. I actually can’t believe how fast the time has gone. Like all others I found the waiting was the hardest part. And the couple of days in hospital were the sorest too but they have the stronger drugs too so all was OK.
Now up to walking three quarters of a mile – slowly – and lying…[Read more]
